Our building is for sale. Help Gg's House find a forever home — see what we're raising

Volunteer

There is no staff. There’s just us.

Gg’s House has been 100% volunteer-run since 2015. Every coat folded, every box lifted and every hello at the door is somebody who decided to show up.

How it works

Getting started takes about a week

  1. Step one

    Fill out an application

Send us the short form below and we’ll take it from there, or pick up a paper application in person any weekday we’re open, 10am–1pm.

  2. Step two

    We give you a ring

A volunteer calls to say hello and sort out your first shift around whatever your week looks like.

  3. Step three

Come in on a Wednesday or Thursday

That’s when most people start — it’s the busiest, which sounds worse than it is. You’ll be paired with someone who knows where everything goes.

Jobs that need doing

Whatever you’re good at, we need it

Sorting & stocking

Unpack donations, sort by size and season, keep the racks and shelves looking like somewhere you’d want to shop.

Front of house

Greet people at the door, help them find sizes, carry boxes to the car. The job is mostly being kind for three hours.

Second Chance Treasures

Run the till, price stock and help train people who are building up retail experience.

Pickups & deliveries

Got a truck or a van? Collect from partner stores and run loads out to food banks, schools and shelters.

Repairs & building

Shelving, flooring, fixtures, signage. The new building has a list and it isn’t getting shorter.

From your own street

Run a donation drive for nappies, towels or cleaning supplies. Throw a fundraiser. Bring us an idea we haven’t had.

Apply

Tell us a bit about you

This opens a pre-filled email to Gg’s House — nothing is sent until you press send in your own mail app.

Prefer to talk to a person? Ring (503) 359-3871 or email ggshouse@yahoo.com.

Or come in person

Paper applications are on the counter at 1714 Pacific Avenue, Forest Grove, Monday to Thursday between 10am and 1pm. Fill one in on the spot — it takes five minutes.

Hours

Groups are welcome

Church groups, sports teams, scout troops, work teams — we can put a group of you to work for a morning. Call ahead so we’ve got enough to do.

Three hours a week changes what we can hand out.

And you’ll like the people. That part surprises everyone.
