Our story
It started with two people who’d had a hard time themselves.
Angel and Steve Sheets founded Gg’s House in 2015. They had come through their own rough stretch, and they wanted to build the kind of place they’d needed — somewhere you could walk into on your worst week and be treated like a person.
Dignity first, always
The mission Angel and Steve wrote down is to be a conduit of God’s grace, to connect on a personal level, and to value each individual by providing dignity and hope. Their faith is why they started, and it’s still why the doors open on a Monday morning.
It has never been a condition of getting help. Gg’s House serves anyone in need, irrespective of background, circumstances, race or religion — veterans, people without housing, people in recovery, families having a bad month, and neighbours who’d never pictured themselves needing a food box.
Nobody is asked what they believe. Nobody is asked to sit through anything. You’re asked what size you wear.

How we got here
Ten years of outgrowing things

Angel and Steve open Gg’s House
Started in Gaston to minister to veterans, people without housing, people in recovery and anyone else in the community who needed a hand.

The Gaston years
Word gets around
Schools, nursing homes, home-health agencies and hospitals start sending people. The weekly total climbs past two hundred. The building stops being big enough — years before anybody could do anything about it.

The move
1714 Pacific Avenue, Forest Grove
A bigger storefront, and a huge amount of volunteer labour to make it work. Alliance Flooring Services donated and installed the new flooring. Shelving went up, stock came in, the doors reopened.

Now
200–450 people a week — and a building that’s for sale
Second Chance Treasures is trading, the DayRoom is being built, and the building itself has gone on the market. Which is why we’re trying to buy a place of our own.

Gg’s House is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit. There is no paid staff, no grant-funded programme and no waiting list — just donated goods, donated money, donated hours, and a set of hours on the door.
