On the shelves
What you can take
Stock changes week to week — it all depends on what our neighbours have dropped off. If we don’t have it, we usually know who does.
Clothing
All sizes, all ages, every season. Coats, boots, socks, work clothes and kids’ clothes are the fastest movers.
Food & meals
Groceries and prepared meals. We also send about 2,000 lbs of food a week out to local food banks and families.
Hygiene
Soap, shampoo, toothpaste, razors, period products, diapers and toilet paper.
Medical equipment
Walkers, wheelchairs, canes, crutches, shower chairs and other durable equipment, as available.
School supplies
Backpacks, notebooks, pens and the rest of the list — for Forest Grove, Gaston, Banks and home-school families.
Blankets & bedding
Blankets, sleeping bags and warm layers, especially through the cold months.
What to expect
Honestly, not much of a process
You will not be asked to prove income, show an ID, sign a form, or explain what happened. We are not a government programme and we don’t report to one. You walk in, a volunteer says hello, and you take what you need.
Bring a bag or a box if you have one. If you’re picking up for a family or a household, tell a volunteer how many people and they’ll help you load up. If you need something we don’t have on the shelf, ask — between us and our partners we can usually find it.
Everyone is welcome, whatever your background, circumstances, race or religion. That has never come with an asterisk here.
For agencies & caseworkers
If you’re referring someone
A lot of what leaves this building leaves in a caseworker’s car. We regularly supply schools, nursing homes, group homes, rehab centres, home-health agencies, hospitals, shelters and both the Forest Grove and Gaston fire departments.
If you work with families who need clothing, hygiene kits, bedding or equipment, call us and we’ll put together what you need. Contact us first if it’s a large order so we can have it ready.
