The building campaign

Help Gg’s House find a forever home

The building we operate out of is for sale. Everything below — the food, the coats, the medical equipment, the 55 agencies we supply — runs out of a space we don’t own. We’re raising money to change that permanently.

Where things stand

We outgrew the last place years ago

Gg’s House started in Gaston and got too big for it long before there was any way to move. Pacific Avenue gave us room to breathe — and now that building is on the market.

For an organisation with no paid staff and no grant cushion, that’s the whole operation sitting on somebody else’s decision. Owning a building is the difference between planning for next year and hoping about next year.

What a permanent building unlocks

Room to do the things we keep having to say no to

A warming and cooling centre

Somewhere to send people when it’s 20°F in January or 105°F in August — instead of handing out a blanket and hoping.

Mentoring and community classes

Space to sit down with people properly, rather than talking over a folding table by the door.

Arts, crafts and workshops

Hands-on sessions and skill-building for all ages — the thing that turns a supply room into a community.

Actual storage

Right now we have to turn away donations when the shelves are full. More space means more coats in October, not fewer.

More than 450 a week

The ceiling on how many people we help is currently square footage, not willingness.

Stability for the agencies we supply

Fire departments, schools, hospitals and shelters plan around us. They need us to still be here.

How to give

Any amount. Genuinely, a dollar counts.

This is a small-town campaign funded by small-town gifts. Donors go up on a recognition board in the new building — we’d like the walls to be covered.

  • GoFundMe — the main building fund, open to any amount
  • Venmo @ggshouse — note it “building fund”
  • Cheque to Gg’s House, PO Box 3, Gaston, OR 97119
  • Businesses, trusts and congregations — call us, let’s talk properly

Gg’s House is a 501(c)(3), so gifts are tax-deductible. Ask and we’ll send a receipt.

Know a building?

We’re also looking for the right space

Money isn’t the only way to move this along. If you own commercial property in or near Forest Grove, know of a building coming available, or work in commercial real estate and fancy doing something good with it — we would very much like to hear from you.

Gg’s House has also had its eye on the Laurelwood Campus as a possible forever home.

The stakes, plainly

450 people a week need this address to keep existing.

Every dollar goes into a building that can’t be sold out from under us again.
